Seal Rescues

Seal Rescues are OCN's flagship campaign. Our dedicated rescue team patrols the beaches at Pelican Point and Cape Cross 3-4 days per week, as long as the hot summer or breeding season allows. Our rescuers have done thousands of successful seal rescues over the past 10 years, making OCN one of the world's leading seal rescue organisations.

Social Media Campaign.avif

Social Media Information Campaigns

We use our growing social media reach to raise awareness and spark conversation about urgent marine conservation issues. Our campaigns cover topics such as recycling and the global plastic crisis, the vital role of Cape Fur Seals, the plight of the African Penguin, and the hidden costs of fish farming. By sharing engaging, fact-based content, we aim to educate, inspire action, and build a global community that cares for our oceans.

School Outreach .avif

Education Outreach to Schools & Universities

Public awareness and education are at the heart of Ocean Conservation Namibia’s mission, with a strong focus on children and young adults. By engaging schools and universities, we inspire the next generation to adopt sustainable environmental practices. Teaching these values early helps prevent future issues with pollution, waste, and environmental destruction, building a foundation for healthier oceans.

African Penguin & Seabird Rehabilitation

OCN responds to injured wildlife call-outs, including African Penguins, seabirds, turtles, pelicans, seals, whales, dolphins, sharks, and jackals. While we don’t have a permanent rehab facility, we provide essential short-term care until the animals can be released or transferred to specialized centers.

Beach Clean Up Events

Our clean-ups go beyond removing potential entanglements for seals and other wildlife. Participants leave more aware of the environmental challenges facing our coasts and empowered to address the issues at their source.

OCN Kids Club

Led by Hawain, the OCN Kids Club brings together 8–15 young volunteers once or twice a month to clean local beaches. We’re proud of their dedication and the positive impact they make on our coastline.

Scientific Research & Data Collection

We document every entanglement to help scientists understand its impact across species. Our data reveals hotspot locations, the most common types of entanglements, and the severity of the problem, guiding targeted conservation efforts.
